Frequently Asked Questions

  • Mobile dentistry is a service where a fully licensed and equipped dental team travels to your location — home, assisted living, workplace, or elsewhere — and delivers professional dental care in that space. At Luxo Mobile Dental, we bring portable digital X-rays, a full dental treatment unit, sterilized instruments, and everything else needed to perform cleanings, exams, fillings, denture work, and more. You don’t go to the dentist — the dentist comes to you.

  • Yes. The clinical care we deliver meets the same professional standards as any traditional dental office. Our providers are licensed dentists operating under California Dental Board regulations, using the same materials, protocols, and diagnostic tools. In many cases, patients tell us the experience is actually more thorough because the attention is entirely one-on-one, in an unhurried, private setting.

  • Mobile dentistry is ideal for seniors, homebound individuals, people with physical or cognitive disabilities, patients with severe dental anxiety, executives and professionals with demanding schedules, and anyone who values privacy and personalized attention over the traditional clinical environment.

  • More than most people expect. In-home services include comprehensive exams, digital X-rays, oral cancer screenings, professional cleanings, deep cleanings (scaling and root planing), tooth-colored fillings, simple extractions, fluoride treatments, full and partial denture fabrication and repair, denture adjustments and relines, and emergency palliative care. See our full services page for a complete list.

  • There may be a nominal convenience fee associated with in-home visits, reflecting the additional logistics of mobile care. However, for most patients and families, this fee is far outweighed by the cost and effort of arranging transportation, taking time off work, or managing the stress of bringing a loved one to an office appointment. We are transparent about all fees upfront — no surprises.

  • Very little preparation is needed. Simply identify a comfortable space in your home with access to an electrical outlet and good lighting — a living room, bedroom, or dining area all work well. Let us know in advance about any medical conditions, current medications, or allergies. We handle the rest.

  • Infection control is a top priority for our team. All instruments are properly sterilized and transported in sealed, sterile packaging. At each visit, we follow strict surface disinfection protocols, use full personal protective equipment, and adhere to all CDC and OSHA guidelines for dental infection control. Your home is treated with the same care and respect as a clinical environment.

  • Yes. Our team has experience working with patients across a spectrum of cognitive and behavioral conditions. We approach these visits with patience, gentleness, and flexibility — adapting our pace and communication style to what works best for each individual. We also welcome family members or caregivers to be present throughout the visit.

  • We've chosen to remain out-of-network so we can provide personalized, high-quality care without the limitations of insurance. This allows us to spend more time with each patient, use the best materials, and deliver care that's focused entirely on your comfort and needs. If you have a PPO dental plan, we'll gladly prepare and submit your insurance claim for you, so you can be reimbursed directly. Many of our patients appreciate the ease, flexibility, and elevated experience that comes with concierge-style dental care brought right to their doorstep.
